Pine Crest Student-Artists Earn National Recognition in 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Pine Crest Upper School visual art students have earned recognition in the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, one of the nation’s most prestigious programs honoring creative teens. This year, multiple Pine Crest students received Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions and national-level nominations, including several for the highly selective American Visions Award.

Among the most notable achievements, Maya Todorov ’26 received a Gold Key for her painting “Portrait of Death,” which was also nominated for an American Visions Award, the program’s highest regional honor. Maya also earned an additional Gold Key and Honorable Mention, reflecting the strength and range of her work.

Caterina Farrell ’26 earned a Gold Key and American Visions Award nomination for her painting “Rush Hour.” This marks Caterina’s third consecutive National Gold Medal nomination, an achievement considered exceptionally rare within the Scholastic Awards program. Her work was also recognized with a Silver Key in the Portfolio category.

The American Visions Award recognizes outstanding artistic achievement from each geographic region. Only a small number of Gold Key works are selected as nominees, making this distinction especially competitive.

Gold Key works advance to national adjudication in New York City, where National Medalists will be announced in March.

Victoria Popov ’28 also earned a Gold Key for her work “Apex.”

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, presented locally by Young At Art Museum in partnership with the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, have celebrated emerging artists and writers since 1923. Alumni of the program include Stephen King, Andy Warhol, Amanda Gorman and Joyce Carol Oates.

Congratulations to all!
