Pine Crest Upper School Robotics Teams Advance to State Championship

Pine Crest Upper School FTC Robotics team, Joules of Wisdom, has qualified for the State Championship berth for the first time in seven years.

The team, led by Carter Hamaway ’27 and supported by James Swanson ’27 and Alex Bertoni ’29, ranked ninth overall and earned a spot in the Florida FTC State Championship, to be held on March 7, 2026. The team also took home the second place Design Award for excellence in engineering and presentation.

Three other three Upper School FTC teams celebrated the end of the competition season with awards. The Jouled Gauntlets team, led by Dennis Colak ’27, with teammates Beckett Metzger ’27, Derin Kalkuz ’28 and Eva Bangsil ’29, finished the season ranked 18th and won the first place Innovate Award, recognizing creativity and engineering innovation.

Team Bee-Jouled led by Kai Cortadellas ’28, assisted by Sam Anidjar ’27 and Noah Shender ’29, earned 20th place and received the second place Control Award for excellence in programming and autonomous performance.

Team Crown Joules led by Ana Lisa Vigil-Benitez ’27, with team members Sadie Markowicz ’28, Nina Alvarez Demalde ’29 and Taylan Abramson ’29, finished 22nd overall after a season of growth and collaboration.
