The Award was established to recognize, value, and reward teachers who deliver outstanding classroom instruction. All Pine Crest teaching awards are based on merit and measurable criteria. Nominees illustrate, through classroom activity, a genuine commitment and connection to students that exceeds Pine Crest’s high expectations of professional performance. Award winners are selected by a committee of administrators representing all divisions and both campuses.

Sra. Gutierrez-Rodriguez was nominated for this Award because of her willingness and initiative to go above and beyond for her students and for challenging them appropriately each and every day. She serves on Pine Crest’s Teacher 21 team and integrates technology and creative exercises with practical tactics and standard teaching materials in the classroom. For example, sixth grade Spanish and French students were recently assigned a “Draw My Life” project. Each student came up with a story, translated the story from English to Spanish or French, illustrated the story on a white board, and recorded a video of the story. In addition, Sra. has represented Pine Crest’s World Languages Department by presenting at education conferences, including the ACTFL Convention and World Languages Expo in November.

This Award was made possible by the generosity of Pine Crest parents, Barbara and Gary Siegler. Pine Crest School expresses our deep appreciation to the Sieglers for their investment in our faculty. We congratulate Sra. Gutierrez-Rodriguez and look forward to announcing future award winners!
