Pine Crest Upper School film students participated at the 2025 All American High School Film Festival and Indie Teen Awards in New York City recently.
Students took part in a high-pressure, real-world filmmaking challenge and celebrated student creativity on a global stage.
The five-day trip began with a three-day film challenge, during which students produced a short film entirely conceived, written and planned in their Film Studies class. The student production team secured three filming locations across Manhattan and brought their vision to life in just two action-packed days of shooting.
On the third day, the team transitioned to post-production, collaborating on every aspect of the film’s final edit. Students sourced sound effects, recorded voiceovers, designed title cards and credits, applied visual effects and polished the final cut of their sci-fi horror short.
Following the challenge, students enjoyed a nighttime Hudson River cruise, where they had the opportunity to relax and network with like-minded peers from around the world. The following day, they attended the Film Festival at AMC Times Square, the busiest movie theater in the U.S., to watch an inspiring slate of high school films including two produced by Pine Crest students.
On the final day, the Pine Crest team screened their completed contest submission alongside dozens of other student-created films.
Congratulations to all!
