Pine Crest Upper School filmmakers Lucia Lecour ’26 and Savanna Osei ’26 earned the top high school prize in the One Earth Young Filmmakers Contest for their short film “Biophilia: The Way Forward.” 

The six-minute documentary explores biophilic design in South Florida, featuring green roofs at the University of Miami and flood resilience planting in Coral Gables. Their film highlights how nature-based design can reconnect people with the environment and improve urban spaces.

The Contest received nearly 400 submissions from 58 countries. Lucia and Savanna’s film will premiere at the Global Awards Celebration on September 21 in Chicago and will be streamed virtually.
