Awards & Achievements Upper School

Pine Crest School is proud to announce that 12 members of the Class of 2025 have been awarded National Merit Scholarships®, a testament to their exceptional academic performance and dedication.

The students earned their recognition through a rigorous process that began with their performance on the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) during their junior year. After being named National Merit Semifinalists, they advanced to Finalist status by meeting additional demanding requirements, including:

  • Submitting comprehensive scholarship applications
  • Maintaining outstanding academic records
  • Receiving endorsements from school officials
  • Earning SAT® scores that confirmed their qualifying test performance

Four Pine Crest students received the prestigious $2,500 National Merit Scholarship, competing against Finalists from Florida:

  • Ashwin Chawla ’25
  • Annika Sachdeva ’25
  • Micah Taubman ’25
  • William Wakefield ’25

These scholarships are among the most competitive awards in the program, with only 2,500 available nationwide. Winners are selected by a committee of college admission officers and high school counselors.

Eight additional Pine Crest students earned college-sponsored Merit Scholarships from their chosen institutions:

  • Nathan Chen ’25
  • William Gabrielle ’25
  • Jonathan Gleiber ’25
  • Zachary Port ’25
  • Gabriella Rajter ’25
  • Alexandra Titayevsky ’25
  • Gemma Wirtenberg ’25
  • Edward Zhang ’25

These scholarships are awarded by colleges and universities to National Merit Finalists who have been accepted for admission and designated the institution as their first choice.

Congratulations to all!
