Pine Crest School Debate Team Competes at Lexington Winter Invitational

Awards & Achievements


The Pine Crest School debate team competed at the Lexington Winter Invitational recently in Lexington, MA. 

In the novice division, the freshmen team of Daniel O'Sullivan ’23 and Stefan Awaida ’23 finished the preliminary rounds with a five to one record, before losing in the octofinals as the fifth seed.  

The freshmen team of Michael Greenberg ’23 and Mahyoub Yatak ’23 finished the preliminary rounds with a five to one record and ended the tournament as champions. 

Each of the novice division competitors earned top 10 awards with Daniel receiving second, Mahyoub receiving fourth, Michael receiving fifth, and Stefan receiving the ninth place award.

In the varsity policy division, debaters Kristian Ivanov ’23, Dylan Friedland ’22, Saanvi Paharia ’21, and Michelle Rubin ’21 had strong showings. The team of Maya El-Sharif ’21 and Pedro Ribiero ’21 made it to round 32 before being defeated on a split decision.  

Pine Crest also had students compete in the varsity public forum. Ariella Bernick ’21 and Spencer Davimos ’22 had a good showing.
