Upper School Awards & Achievements

Pine Crest Upper School student Maxwell Perlman ’21 received a Silver Knight Award from the Miami Herald Silver Knight Awards Program recently.

The purpose of the Silver Knight Awards program is to recognize outstanding students who have maintained good grades and have unselfishly applied their special knowledge and talents to contribute significant service to their schools and communities.

Maxwell was recognized in the Athletics category for his work through co-founding Crew Cares, a service organization to help children. Its biggest event – an annual toy rally and car parade featuring rare and collectible cars from Sunrise to Pompano Beach – raises money and collects hundreds of toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots. Crew Cares also holds diaper drives, book drives and has organized beach and park cleanups.

He is also the founder of LunchLine.org, which is striving to pay off student lunch debt in public schools. To date, the group has paid off the debt in 21 schools.

In addition to Maxwell’s award, Yuvraj Tuli ’21 and Maya El-Sharif ’21 received Honorable Mentions in the Social Science and Speech categories, respectively.

Earlier this year, Pine Crest announced 12 nominees covering all Silver Knight Awards categories.

Congratulations to all!
