Five (5) Pine Crest Middle School engineering teams competed in the STEM Inventor's Challenge hosted by the South Florida Science Museum, sponsored by the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation and the Jacobs Family Foundation recently.

The team of Ava Martoma ’25, and Lauren Hayes ’26 earned Best Classroom Connection Project for The Bio-Organizer, and Gabriel Duarte ’25, Adam Talano ’25, and Ashwin Chawla ’25 earned second place overall for The Com-Porta-Pactor

The competition, In Someone Else's Shoes, challenged students to 3D design four items that incorporated both empathy and purpose. This is the fourth year of the competition and the first that Pine Crest has been invited to participate.

Students were tasked with designing a toddler toy, a penny boat, an object to improve the classroom, and a unique global invention.

“I am incredibly proud of all five teams for the hard work, innovative thinking, and dedication they put forth for months in this competition,” said Ms. Vicki Spitalnick, Innovation Specialist.

Congratulations to all!
