Middle School Awards & Achievements

Pine Crest Middle School engineers earned first place at the EnergyWhiz Junior Solar Sprint Competition.

Petra Coleman ’26, Richard Landa ’26, and Alex Llorente ’26 won first place for Most Innovative and third place for Best Design.

Students were tasked with building an eye-catching, durable, and fast solar-powered vehicle and then effectively presenting it on a web page they created. To power their vehicles, students had to use an approved solar panel and motor. However, the chassis, wheels, and transmission could be constructed of materials of their choosing.

Cars were judged on design, innovation, and performance. Performance of the vehicle was evaluated on how fast and straight the vehicle moved under the power of the sun—no batteries were allowed.

Congratulations!
