Pine Crest School English Instructor Marisa Ortega was selected to join College Board’s AP English Language and Composition Development Committee.

Educators on the Committee play a critical role in the preparation of the course description and exam for AP English Language and Composition. They represent a diversity of knowledge and points of view in their fields and, as a group, are the authority when it comes to making subject-matter decisions in the exam-construction process. The AP development committees represent a unique collaboration between high school and college educators.

“It's been an amazing experience,” said Mrs. Ortega. “I've learned so much about the process and the amount of work required to provide an equitable test for the nation; now with the pandemic, the importance of creating multiple versions for multiple platforms that are diverse and inclusive.”

“I feel like I am back in school but at the same time having a tour of the underbelly of Disney World. Even more, the collegial dialogues about equitable testing have been so informative. The work continues through the summer, and I will also be a question leader when we score the exams in June.”

Mrs. Ortega joins other faculty members on the College Board representing Pine Crest School.
