Lower School Getting involved

Pine Crest School second graders alongside the Middle School leadership council recognized anti-bullying month recently with the #HatNotHate campaign

October is recognized nationally as anti-bullying month, which made the timing just right for students to collaborate with #HatNotHate. The organization’s mission is to raise awareness by making, wearing, and sharing blue hats. The color blue represents solidarity and support of bullying prevention.

Students attended a virtual assembly with the organization’s founder and learned about the importance of kindness and empathy. Every student was given a hat to wear, made by Pine Crest faculty and staff.

Going forward, Middle School and second grade students will set up “mindful moment crafting stations" in their classrooms to make hats to donate on behalf of #HatNotHate. They will also create backpack tags with inspiring messages in the Mintz Family iLab as a reminder about what they have learned from this project.
