Pine Crest Upper School Students Compete at Broward Youth Innovation Summit
Pine Crest Upper School students competed at the Broward Youth Innovation Summit at Nova Southeastern University recently.
Hosted by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), the Summit is open to students between 13 and 18 years of age. Through the Summit, students had an opportunity to practice thinking of original ways to help solve global goals that the United Nations has identified as the largest and most serious challenges to humanity.
Students were grouped into teams with peers from different schools and worked together on a prompt. The event included 300 students from schools in Broward County, who were tasked with designing an initiative or innovative approach that uses data to address the impacts of natural disasters.
Out of 41 teams, Grant Fields ’20 and Giuliana Cascarano ’20 were on the second place team, and Frank Belette ’20 was on the third place team.
