Pine Crest School has created an opportunity for teachers, administrators, and education professionals to participate in  two-day, in-depth learning intensives to facilitate professional development and learning in specific topic areas.

You can attend one of the 2019 Summer Intensive topics below:

  • Social and Emotional Education Workshop Intensive: A void in social and emotional programming for PK-12 institutions prompted Pine Crest to develop a tailored plan, using a strategic model. As a school committed to innovation and anchored by our core curriculum, we sought to balance the two while providing our students with the skill set needed for success beyond the classroom. Gain an understanding of how to achieve a cultural shift, integrate social-emotional skills into your curriculum, and improve social and emotional interactions within the broader school community.
  • Reading and Writing Workshop Intensive: Strong literacy instruction has the capacity to transform student learning of reading, writing, and word study. The Workshop Model provides a framework that supports children in becoming confident, autonomous lifelong learners through high-interest content and individualized instruction. Workshop Model establishes targeted instruction that increases intrinsic motivation, a critical factor in learning. During each workshop, students construct meaning in content areas by engaging in open-ended tasks that encourage social-emotional awareness, critical thinking, collaboration, and the transference of skills to applicable real-world arenas. During our two-day workshop, we will explore foundational components of the Workshop Model, assessment to drive instructional decisions, and engage in planning and implementation.

  • Math Workshop Workshop Intensive: Take a deep dive into Math Workshop. We will explore the components of math workshop and update our beliefs about math. Discover ways to modify your instruction while thinking about the structure of the math block, effective math language, differentiation, and one-on-one conferring. You will leave with a deeper understanding of how to implement Number Talks and 3-Act Tasks and much more!
  • Marketing Workshop Intensive:  Marketing communications plays an important role in advancing the mission of a school, working with the admission team to inform and inspire prospective families to enroll and re-enroll; and with the development team to inspire donors to give and give again. Planning and executing strategic messaging supports these revenue-generating functions while promoting and protecting the reputation of the school.
