The Hudson Library is a 3,800-square-foot space dedicated to grades pre-kindergarten through grade five on the Fort Lauderdale campus. This Library includes a story room, computer area, and comfortable and inviting seating. A collection of approximately 34,000 books, 40 periodical subscriptions, and 1,700 media items are available to students and faculty.
The Hudson Library is a vibrant part of each Lower School student's Pine Crest experience. Classes visit the Library weekly during a regularly scheduled and well-planned library session. Library staff and a literacy support teacher work with classroom teachers to support the Reading and Writing Workshop curriculum.
Lower School library programs include Reading Counts, an annual READ-IN to celebrate National Library Month, and Florida Reading Association and Sunshine State Young Readers' lists. Parent volunteers work with library staff to enrich the library experience, including shelving of books, contributing to a gift book program, hosting guest authors, and coordinating a Scholastic Book Fair.
