Tony Bridges ’18 earned the state championship in the boys’ triple jump. Tsion finished as the state-runner up in the girls’ 1600-meter race, and the 4x800- meter relay team of Amanda Schwartz ’20, Mahdere Yared ’21, Emily Faulhaber ’20, and Tsion Yared ’20 finished the event as state runners-up. The girls beat the current School record for the 4x800 meter by 10.6 seconds, which is also the third fastest time in Florida history, and the sixth fastest time recorded in the United States.
The girls’ team completed the meet in fourth place overall, while the boys’ finished in 13th place.
Student-athletes qualified to compete at the meet after their district and regionalperformances, in which several team members brought home championship titles.
