Pine Crest School Track and Field Student-Athletes Bring Home Two State Titles

Two Pine Crest School track and field student-athletes earned state titles at the 2018 FHSAA 2A Track & Field State Championships.
Tsion Yared ’20 and Mahdere Yared ’21, finished the girls’ 3200-meter race in first, state champion, and second place, state runner-up, respectively. Click here to watch the Yared sisters’ interview with the Sun Sentinel.

Tony Bridges ’18 earned the state championship in the boys’ triple jump. Tsion finished as the state-runner up in the girls’ 1600-meter race, and the 4x800- meter relay team of Amanda Schwartz ’20, Mahdere Yared ’21, Emily Faulhaber ’20, and Tsion Yared ’20 finished the event as state runners-up. The girls beat the current School record for the 4x800 meter by 10.6 seconds, which is also the third fastest time in Florida history, and the sixth fastest time recorded in the United States. 

The girls’ team completed the meet in fourth place overall, while the boys’ finished in 13th place.

Student-athletes qualified to compete at the meet after their district and regional performances, in which several team members brought home championship titles.
