Pine Crest Lower School Student Earns Runner-Up Place in Scholastic’s “Me and My Hero” Portrait Competition

Pine Crest Lower School student Ellie Weil ’28 was selected as a runner-up in Scholastic Book Club’s “Me and My Hero” national portrait competition.
To participate, students submitted a drawing of themselves alongside a portrait of their hero. Students then wrote three things they have in common with their hero.

Ellie’s hero is Harriet Tubman.  Ellie and Harriet Tubman both wanted to do something important to help others and wanted to be brave, adventurous, courageous, and determined.

As a runner-up, Ellie received an Ordinary People Library, which is a collection of biographies about famous heroes written by author Brad Meltzer.

Congratulations, Ellie!
