Writing Practice Program to Perfection
Students in grades 3-8 are utilizing the Writing Practice Program (WPP) in their English courses. WPP was introduced last school year to improve student writing. Using the program, students have password-protected access to a secure Web site, available 24/7. They submit an essay online after selecting a prompt from choices specific to each grade level. After submitting their essay, students receive a report immediately. Once they have received their scores, the students have access to appropriate online tutorials that help them improve their writing. Each essay a student submits will be available to teachers through an online portfolio of each student’s work. The culmination is a written test in the spring.

Fifth grader Ines de Bracamonte just happened to have some pre-Columbian artifacts at home and brought them to school to share with her classmates. Actually, Ines’ dad is from Peru and much of the artifacts have been passed down from generation to generation.
