 of
Daniella Day

It took hundreds of tiles and scores of hours to create the mosaic. But on April 15, the tiled mammal was mounted proudly as a tribute to Daniella Folleco, who passed away this past summer. Daniella’s family and friends came together for a ceremony to honor  the middle-school student who loved orcas and could make everyone smile. Students participated in a field day in their friend’s honor.  Watch photoshow

A special thanks to Middle School art teacher Alicia Bresee for working on and overseeing the project, Assistant Middle School Head Dana Markham for spearheading the project and all of those who made Daniella Day a fitting and awesome tribute.
Pine Crest students also honored Daniella by dedicating this year's 24-hour swim to fight cancer to Joe Dimaggio's Children's Hospital, where Daniella received her care. Upper School science teacher Dagmara Podkoscielny, who is winning her battle against cancer, and her daughter Julia kicked off the swim. There also will be a 5k Run, Walk and Kid's Fun Run starting at 7 a.m. Sunday, May 18 at John U. Lloyd State Park in Dania Beach. For registration information, see www.splitsecondtiming.com. Contact Chaplain Ani McKee for community service opportunities at 954-492-4120.
