Statistics Project
"What's it like to be a 'big kid'?" Inquiring fourth-grade minds want to know.
With the help of Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Venne's AP Statistics class, the fourth graders created a survey that asked their most pressing questions, "How many hours do you spend on homework? How old were you when you had your first kiss? Do you still like to read? How many car crashes have you been in already? Have you ever adopted a dog from a shelter? As their last project, the Statistics students used inference procedures to do a full analysis of the results. Each student selected one or more specific questions to analyze. They prepared a high-level overview and presented their findings to the fourth graders at a party. The fourth graders hosted the party, offering a fine array of gourmet cookies and juice (special thanks to Mrs. Ross' fabulous room mom!). Everyone was impressed with how eager the fourth graders were to hear the results of their questions and how the Statistics students shared their experiences with so much enthusiasm.
