A fundamental goal at Pine Crest is to enrich students’ lives by exposing them to
various art forms. Faculty members highly trained in dance, music, art, and theater guide students throughout their years to use the arts to gain positive peer recognition, a cultural understanding and personal fulfillment.
Students’ aspirations vary. Some are so taken by the experience that they go on to attend top art colleges and universities and then embark on careers in the arts. Others simply learn to seek out the arts as a form of entertainment, enrichment, self-expression, lifestyle, and artistic appreciation.
Pine Crest goes beyond the surface in teaching the arts just as we do in our academic curriculum. In dance, students who have started in our Lower School may choose to branch out into different levels of ballet, including pointed. Each year, a full-length ballet is staged at both of our campuses involving a wide range of grade levels. In theater, students are exposed not only to the craft of acting but also to behind-the-scenes production. Drawing, computer graphics, video production, painting, sculpture, and the experience of artistic competition are open to all students as well. Furthermore, the opportunity to work in an actual television studio and produce programs for school community is available to students on both campuses. Musical opportunities abound at all grade levels and in all sizes of ensembles.
Students in the arts have access to the most advanced tools and facilities. Specially designed buildings, auditoriums, practice rooms, studios and galleries provide the facilities for highly trained and dedicated faculty to work with students.
Involvement in the arts is integral to the development of the educated individual. Through the arts, Pine Crest is committed to inspiring creativity and an appreciation for learning that goes beyond traditional core academics.
